This past weekend at the Sundance Film Festival Watchitoo partnered up with the hosts of #Tweethouse to beam in Jimmy Jean Louis from NBC Heroes into the @140tc Tweethouse event at sundance during the celebrity #tweetupforhaiti. He discussed his Non-Profit organization HUFH “Hollywood Unites for Haiti” and what can be done to assist with the urgent need for relief assittance in the devastation that has struck post the catastrophic earthquake.

The tweetup for Haiti was hosted by Levar Burton, and had celebrity guests like Adrien Grenier from Entourage post a tweet and donate funds to the relief efforts. Adrien donated $1000 to the Wyclef Yele Haiti Foundation.

Shira Lazaar also live streamed some of the happenings at tweethouse as well on Ustream, and wrote a great recap of the tweethouse happenings on the CBS News Blog discussing appearances also made by Joseph Gorden Levitt promoting hisown site hitRECord.org and film Hesher at this years festival (which Shal from Watchitoo attended while he was out there and reported great things after the screening) and Kareen Abdul Jabar who promoted his own documentary film.
It was exciting to see how an online streaming platform can be used to connect people around the world for a shared experience. Those of us who didn’t join Shal at the tweethouse were able to view some of the panelists talking: like Adrien tweeting for Haiti, or Kareem Abdul Jabar showing his documentary, would could ask Jimmy (@HaitianHero on twitter) questions live in the real-time chat, and connect with some new individuals concerned in supporting the Haiti efforts and getting coverage from sundance. We had some users join from Ghana, Turkey, Israel, New York, LA, and elsewhere in the U.S to revisit the show go to www.watchitoo.com/pro/tweethouse.
